Theology is really an interesting subject. For those who do not understand the meaning of Theology, it basically means the study of God. Theologians are people who study and investigate theology.I love theology. I love Bible exegesis. Being a logical person I am yet someone who lives to ideologies, it is hard for me to be able to live under ideologies that I either cannot find a logical explanation for it, or I find redundancy or problems with it, or if I disagree with the ideologies.
Church life is like a circle. We hear how the early church deteriorated throughout the centuries. Church history shows us the mistakes made and we learn to avoid such mistakes. Yet, the sad thing is, though there were improvements, the church (or rather some churches) are slowly slipping back to the traditional churches of old. Ideologies like man being made supreme and that his or her words carry the authority as if of God, man being the ultimate dictator of what we call "God's Army" and moves it in whatever way the person deems fit, ignoring insignificant human rights and dignity, etc. Even the idea of "God's Army" should not be taken literally. We aren't really conscripted into a literal army but rather a spiritual army. Yes, though there are people to shepherd or lead the people (like the Pope) but c'mon, for someone to take the ultimate command and lead like the army of the olden days.
During the days of old, times of the traditional churches, these ideologies were challenged and brought about the reformation. Today, the church (some) is going back to the ideologies of old that started the fallacies of the church like the crusades etc.
These ideologies and denial of humanity and compassion is really something I cannot sit back and quietly ignore. If theology is going to be subject to human interpretation just to have their way, I AM IN NO WAY GOING TO SIT AND NOD! No, I'm not inciting the beginning of a new branch of Christianity but rather I am trying to point to some churches the mistakes of the church lest it becomes egocentric rather than Christocentric. If theology has to hit hard, it has to. If it has to tear the church to its bare basic to challenge the church back to its origins, it has to. No, I'm not denying or recanting Christianity, nor am I being anti-Christ, but I am trying to bring the church back to realize its roots; its beginnings. If we are the representative of Christ, if we are supposed to emulate Christ, then, please, I plead you, think again and think thrice. Is the church really emulating Christ, His presence, His compassion, His love, Him? Is the core of the church Christ or are we becoming more and more egocentric? If it is the latter and we are apathetic about it, then, truly, I'm saddened with the health of the church. Please, find your roots!
