Watched the game between Spain and Germany just now. I am a supporter of Spain and a fan of Barcelona FC. Before the game began, a smile was on my face just knowing that 7 players were Barca players! Then the game began. It was a good match to watch seeing how the Spaniards were really in control of the ball. Their skills were really a notch above Germany. The way they stopped the ball, dribbled, passed and all really shows their superiority in the match as well as the unity of the players. My only disappointment was that their finishing was nothing to shout about, and in fact, was quite disappointing. But it was really enjoyable to see how skilled they were with the ball. Everything got better when Xavi took a corner kick and Puyol headed it into the back of the net, scoring the winning goal!
Now, Germany also displayed an excellent game. Though I expected more from them, especially from the likes of people like Klose, overall, they also delivered a solid performance. Their defense was solid and that killed many attempts by the Spanish forwards to shoot on target. I believe that the defense was one factor in disrupting the Spanish finishing. Although they tried to pick themselves up after the goal from Puyol, they could not beat the defense line of the Spaniards. Some nice shots were attempted but nothing that Casillas could not handle. In fact, in my opinion, Casillas gave a solid performance, proving why he is called the 'safe-hands'.
Anyway, I'm excited to see the match between Germany and Uruguay and even more excited to watch the match between Spain and Netherlands this weekend. Of course, I support and hope that the World Cup 2010 will go to Spain! Till then, toodleloo!
