When I first saw this game with the description "maneuver through life's challenges and see if you survive", it caught my interest. A game about life? Wouldn't that be fun? So I decided to download it and try it out. Life Quest turns out to be a game of simulation of life plus time management. Though it isn't that challenging, this game by Big Fish is fun! I completed the game within 2 and a half hours.
Life Quest presents you with a city populated by a number of buildings, some of which are unlocked to start. This includes universities (to choose a career path), a city center (to look for employment), rental and buying properties, as well as restaurants, clothing stores, electronics and furniture shops, pet stores, and a lot more. As with time management games, Life Quest is divided into days wherein you would have to take care of yourself and happiness, earn money, while trying to achieve certain goals before your competitors do. The best part of the game is that, like in real life, you are presented with a whole line of options: whether you're looking for a job from dozens of employment opportunities (and you need to be qualified to accept it, of course), trying to figure out what to eat (depending on your budget), deciding on clothing items for sale at the local boutique (watch for sales!) or what groceries to buy for your home (and yes, you need to the right appliances for specific foods). In fact, you can upgrade yourself by taking courses and picking up new skills, just like in real life.
Personally, I feel that this is a unique game that is light, not really challenging but fun to play. If you are looking for challenges then this is not the game for you. But if you want something that is simple yet fun, then try Life Quest. It is not that difficult a game to play. Grow up, work, study, buy or rent houses, get married, have children.... How difficult can that get??! . I rate an 8/10. NOTE: I have the mac version as well, in case anyone wants it.
