That’s right! It is the book as seen on the left. “Apocalyptic” by Leon Morris. This is a required reading for my Apocalyptic Literature class and tonight will be the first night of a string of classes. Surprise, surprise, tonight, we will also be tested on this book.
If you flip through the book, at first glace, it APPEARS to be an easy reading, with only 103 pages. Really, it only APPEARS to be simple, but nothing more. In reality, this book is CRAZY reading!! Sentence structure, choice of words, all show that I belong to a different era as I don’t understand what Morris was writing! Looking at the date, this was first published in 1972. That explains the hard-to-understand sentences. Many a times, I had to read the particular sentence about 3 times to understand what he is trying to say. More often than not, I would have to reread the entire paragraph or even the paragraphs before to understand what he is trying to convey.
Overall, it still is an enjoyable and informative book. Even though it was tough, I did enjoy the reading. It wasn’t very academic in terms of writing style but pleasant sentences. In a nutshell, I am still happy that I have finished reading. Only one question remains: how much of it is actually stored in my brain for tonight? Cuz no way am I going to read the whole book again in the near future. Probably in the far future…..
