Just had this crazy idea. But before I go on any further, I must make a disclaimer. This is NOT a teaching so please do not go round saying that “Bryan said this and that” ya… Just had this crazy thought of showing you the benefits of doing things the ‘not-so-convenient’ way (here on referred to as NSC) rather than the convenient way. So, here goes!
Take for instance, going to the shop to buy some stuff. Convenience would mean you drive to that shop, buy whatever you want and drive back. This makes you fat and lazy. The NSC however would mean that you will have to walk to that shop, buy whatever you want, carry them in plastic bags and walk all the way home. Benefits? You have better health, better stamina, and stronger muscles (please, no smoking while walking ya~ defeats the whole “good-for-health” thingy).
Convenience would mean that you cheat in your exam or copy someone else’s assignment or homework (some even bully others to do their homework for them). If caught, you are so so dead. Besides, because you didn’t do the work yourself, you don’t learn and thus, it makes you a little more stupid than your other classmates who did the work by themselves. Oh, and if you are not caught, guilt haunts you so you can’t sleep at night. And by the way, it really is a sorry thing if you cheat in your exams and still fail… Sigh… The NSC would mean you have to write till your hand is sore, work through the night just to get the work done (or score in an exam) but the benefits: you strengthen your hand muscles and stamina, you get to feel and enjoy the cool and chilly night air, you get a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction when you score (even if you don’t, you feel satisfied that you have tried your very best) and most importantly, you are a little more intelligent than your other friends who are in the former category.
Of course, there are times where convenience might work. For instance, you conveniently drive to a nearby convenience store to get some things. Compare this with driving 10km to the supermarket to buy what you need. The former saves petrol and the latter, waste of money.
Or when you conveniently accidentally put chili sauce into the spaghetti instead of tomato sauce and see your friend jump up and down like a monkey screaming, you video it down and put it up on YouTube. Well, at least there is entertainment value in that convenience.
Not to forget out favorite convenience that is very beneficial: when we conveniently forget to bring our homework because we didn’t finish it. If we forget to bring, teacher scolds a bit and asks you to hand up tomorrow (if you are one of those who have a ‘good’ teacher like I did, the teacher would say no need to pass up homework anymore! Wow~ double benefit!) and life goes on and people forget about the incident. Isn’t this better than bringing the unfinished homework and get a more ‘spicy’ scolding and get labeled as a lazy bum and everyone then gives you the nickname ‘LazyBumBum’? See~ It has it’s benefits too! LOL~
Note: Again, this is just a crazy thought. Just for entertainment.
